Someone cuts you of while driving and you are angry. Conscious experience thoughts, feelings (what a bad driver, i am angry, i need to calm down) Emoion a full body/mind/behavior response to a situaion. Then conscious awareness and label for the feeling. We have a conscious/cogniive experience of an emoion at the same ime as our body is responding. Emoions do not exist unil we add a label to whatever body sensaions we are feeling. Spillover efect arousal was caused by injecions of adrenaline, subjects interpreted their agitaion to whatever emoion the others in the room appeared to be feeling, the emoional label spilled over from others. Some emoional reacions develop in a low road through the brain skipping conscious thought (bypassing the cortex) In one study, people showed an amygdala response to certain images without being aware of the image or their reacion.
