Development can facebe divided into four overarching periods: Early childhood: 24 months 7 years old. Middle / late childhood: 7 years 12 years old. Adolescence: 12 years 22 years old. Rapid physical change, sexual advancement, abstract thought. Cohort effects are based on era, time of birth, or generation.
