Document Summary
History of the theory of evolution and mr. darwin. 6th century bce there was a greek philosopher (anaximander) who wrote about his theory that all species come from a common descent and a transmutation for species. Darwin was not alone in proposing his theory; there were many other thinkers before him. His work has been solidified by people who came after. Proposed a classification scheme and sought similarities in organisms. Wanted to seek a rational organization so he did this by developing binomial nomenclature. This is the naming system we use today to name organisms. He devised an organization called nestle hierarchies. He was the first to realize that sedimentation happens so slowly. The great geological cycle: sedimentation- sediments deposited by water were compressed to form stone, erosion- rock exposed to the elements breaks down into sediments, cycle of erosion and sedimentation have been completed innumerous times.
