Document Summary

All established enterprises have the opportunity to innovate all the time, and most do, at a considerable expense. Many enterprises do not achieve competitive separation through their innovations and thus are not rewarded by them. Goal: use the innovation-types model to help turn such performances around. Step 1: organize various information into clusters, both to better understand them better and to facilitate calling them to mind. Clustering principle separates types of innovation into four zones 1. customer intimacy zone 2. product leadership zone 3. operational excellence and 4. category renewal. Product leadership zones are privileged during the growth phase. Customer intimacy and operational excellence zones are privileged during the matter phase. A focus on product leadership is intended to contrast with strategies that do not differentiate the offer but rather the customer"s experience of it (customer intimacy) or the value chain"s effectiveness at delivering it (operational excellence)
