This introduction section of the chapter talks about women"s rights in the us. Even as recently as 1973, women could be refused a credit card if they did not have a male co-signer. The right for women to have an abortion wasn"t even secured until roe: wade in 1973. Today, women outnumber men on college campuses and are half the countries workforce. They now have representation in congress, are in professional sports, and serve in the military which used to be reserved only for men. That being said, women still earn less than men, have no equal rights amendment, and are still fighting for their own reproductive rights. Women today still only earn about 77 cents to the dollar men make, as well as only won about 5% of nobel prizes given out.
