This strand exchange is reversible and not an irreversible reaction until atp is hydrolyzed and rcca comes off. Once rcca is off and not there anymore, than it becomes permanent: There are multiple copies of origin of replication and ready to divide as soon as genome completes replication so next round of replication is already half way down. Two sister chromatids are held together and when you get a double strand break on one sister chromatid, it can be repaired with the information from the other chromatid.
