Signals that anxiety arousing material is being approached: resistance defensive maneuvers that hinder process of therapy. Transference client responds to analyst as if he or she were an important figure from client"s life: sometimes client can transfer feelings for someone else onto therapist, two forms. Positive client transfers feelings of intense affection, dependency, love.
