Mind-body problem: whether or not the mind or body is related. Mind-body dualism: belief that the mind is a spiritual entity, mind and body is completely separate, if you learn about the body, you can"t learn about the mind. Monism: mind and body are interconnected, you can learn about the mind by studying the body. Mind-body interactions: relationship between mental processes in the functioning of other bodily systems, thinking of a favorite food (psychological level) -> hunger pangs (biological level, stress (psychological level) -> high blood pressure (biological level) British empiricism: ideas and knowledge are gained through the senses, observation is better than reason. Stimulating certain areas of the brain and looking at behavior: mapping what areas affect which behavior. Phrenology: people could sit and physically feel the shape of your skull and map your personality. Psychophysics: psychologically experienced sensations depend on the characteristics of physical stimuli.
