Did not take into consideration that any form of reason is heavily influenced by desire & emotion. Kant: proper use of pure reason will correctly decide any moral issue. Kierkegaard: argues that reasoning about moral issues is influenced inevitably by desires & their associated emotions. Freud: on the side of those who believed that emotions & desires intimately impact any type of reasoning, moral reasoning included. Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced. Later adolescent superego incorporates the moral principles of society. Shame & moral code contained in the superego is called by freud the ego ideal which is an image of the perfect self towards which the ego should aspire ** Superego can stir up motions that work against the id (guilt & shame) Ego ideal is part of the superego. Superego is freud"s agency of morality in structural model.
