Climate change has disproportionate impacts on minority communities. People who have the fewest resources are the least capable of rebuilding after a disaster. Climate change disproportionately hurts women, people with disabilities, the elderly, and children. Were toxic storage and disposal facilities sited in minority communities or did minority residents move to areas around existing tsdf facilities. Discriminatory practices and lack of political power in minority communities induce polluters to locate hazards in these areas. Minorities tend to move to areas with lower property value and might choose to trade increased health risks for larger or better housing. In the sitting hypothesis, what was found: Disproportional exposure of minorities better than the move-in hypothesis. Areas undergoing racial transition are more vulnerable. Areas that received tsdfs were low-income, minority, disproportionally renters. Minorities attract tsdfs but tsdfs did not attract minorities. Increase public participation by representatives of affected population.
