Perhaps the most fruitful distinction with which the sociological imagination works is between "the personal troubles of milieu" and "the public issues of social structure. " This distinction is an essential tool of the sociological imagination and a feature of all class work in social science. Offer thinking tools to think about social problems, what social problems are, how they are chosen to be social problems. Students of social problems have made an error in locating social problems in objective conditions.
