FILM TV 122E Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Zhang Yimou, David Fincher, Vectorscope
Document Summary
Dv (digital video) camera systems structurally resemble traditional film cameras with a lens and a camera body that contains a light sensitive sensor or sensors. For digital video cameras, this memory device will be a digital recorder situated either within or separated from the camera. For a film camera, these capture and storage functions take place directly on the film stock itself. There are many events and processes that affect the quality of digital images. Beginning with analog capture, images must be digitized and then subjected to either very little or a great amount of processing. The four elements that we will now discuss have the greatest immediate impact on video quality. Generally, when you have a large sensor, there is more room for the placement of large pixels within the array. With large pixels there will be a higher sensitivity to light and a greater reduction in noise.
