Document Summary

11/9/15 in general the media coverage of ivf looked like a giant sci- horror story the 4 big arguments against cloning and chimeras: moral taboo argument: Kass argues that that sense of repugnance is connected to deep and connecting truth, truth that you cannot explain, but that emotional response is connected to what is true. Because as a society we feel repugnant towards new technology (chimeras, etc. ) it is wrong. Kass has the premise that our repugnance is connected to deep and unchanging wisdom and truth about how the world is but this is false because what has given us that sense of repugnance changes over time. For example, at a time interracial couples, homosexuality, women working caused repugnance, but now its normal. what grosses us out changes over time, if they change over time then they cannot be connected to deep and connecting truth.
