Brain cannot handle more than 10 c temperature change. When preoptic hypothalamus is cooled in a rat brain, rat will think it is cold and will cook itself trying to get warm. There is a double-dissociation between liking and wanting systems. Wanting- anticipation of pleasure (dopamine system), if you get this, you will get pleasure. Liking- the pleasure you feel in the moment (opiate system) Different systems in brain, independent of each other in different parts of brain. In animals- reward seeking vs. facial expressions of pleasure/displeasure; can tell whether animal likes doing what they are doing (implications on drug addiction)
