PSY 3010 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Reinforcement, Slot Machine
Document Summary
There are three main types of multiple baseline designs: across subjects, across behaviors, across settings. Can demonstrate a functional relationship because treatment is replicated across two or more baselines. Compare baseline and treatment or two (or more) treatments. Conditions are alternated rapidly (every other day or every other session) Functional relationship demonstrated when the data are separated between the two conditions. Multiple performance criteria (goals) in the treatment phase. Functional relationship is demonstrated when the behavior matches the performance criteria. Reinforcer after x number of responses - the number does not change. Produces high rate / post reinforcement pause. Examples: piece rate pay, classroom uses. Reinforcer after x number of responses on the average. Produces high rate / no post-reinforcement pause. Examples: work and classroom uses, slot machine, phone solicitors. Reinforcer for the first response after x amount of time - time interval does not change. Produces low rate of responding that increases at the end of the interval.
