Document Summary

A technique or method that we use to manipulate the reproductive capacity/events with the final goal of producing healthy offspring. Manually placing semen into the female"s reproductive tract. No interaction between the male and the female of the species here. Increase diversity in herd by getting semen shipped in from anywhere. Sometimes females can be difficult towards males. Increases profits for owners (more money per ejaculate) You have to have the right facilities to be able to collect the semen, keep it cold, and the expertise to do this. Cows are difficult because of the way their cervix is shaped. Horses are delicate, easy to get infections. Not uncommon for semen to be frozen in cattle. Freezing semen for horses does not generally work, it is better to use fresh or cooled semen. The transfer of an embryo from one female to another. If the female that was bred can"t carry the offspring to term, then this might be used.
