Families exist for economic, emotional support, and childrearing purposes. Exist in humans and a few nonhuman species due to these children"s inability to care for themselves. Human families function and are influenced from the micro to macro (parent/child interactions to the culture"s larger institutions: a systems view of families. Yes we are looking at the family dynamic but the dynamic is also influenced by these outer influence and contributors. Plays a role in how the exterior influences contribute to the development of the family and kids. Children benefit from warmth and responsiveness plus intermediate amounts of control. Four parenting styles result from combining the two dimensions and their two levels. In reality it is more of a continuum: the two dimensions of parental behavior.
