A comprehensive evaluation procedure discovers nutrient composition, digestibility, productive value, palatability and the physical or handling characteristics of feeds. Water, ash, crude protein, ether extract, crude fiber, nitrogen, free extract. Isolates portion of the feed w/high calorie density. Ash- mineral content (needed for other calculations) Readily available carbs such as sugars and starches. Gestation trial= tell us the degree to which feed = digested/absorbed. Digestion trials=the degree to which a feed stuff is digested and absorbed by the animal. Metabolism trial= more advance digestion trials that include measures of things.
