Lipids made in liver and collected from chylomicron renmants -> packaged into vldl. Cells remove tg from vldl as it passes by. As ldl travels through bodu, cells take up tg, cholesterol and phospholipids. Removes cholesterol from cells -> carries it back to liver for recycling or disposal. Energy storage (in adipose tissue) omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids: Too much of one can cause a deficiency in another. To avoid imbalance get the nutrients from foods. Fatty fish (not for vegan diet) essential fatty acid deficiency. In infants or young children fed fat-free milk diets. In hospitalized patients on fat free formulas for prolonged period of time. Lipoprotein lipase hyfrolyzes(lpl) tg -> fatty acids, digylcerides and monoglycerides -> inside adipose cells, components reassembled into tg. Enzymes in adipose cells hydrolyze tg -> fatty acids+glycerol.
