Israelites = semites who probably originated as slaves in egypt (according to albright) William foxwell albright = american archaeologist in mideast, specialized in tels, stratigraphical method , thought his evidence made story of joshua historically accurate. Albright school = following of albright, mostly students. Bronze age: bigger city, indicated by warehouse for grain, outdoor temple. Conquered, destroyed, & burned to ground . Ch 11 of book of joshua: israelites burn/conquer city according to albright, tel hazor discoveries support biblical story. Iron age: advanced/organized society, chamber wall (typical of iron age) w/ rooms between 2 walls. Bronze age: outdoor altar for sacrifice, advanced tunnel system for water.
