PHYSICS 131 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Whiteboard
Document Summary
Graphs and data analysis are at the heart of scientific research. This lab explores identifying graphs and correlating the information from a graph to physical situations. Here, we will be working with the motion of a cart on a track. The motion sensor is quite sensitive, so make sure everything is set up appropriately before moving on. The motion sensor is set to the cart . There"s a small black switch on top of the sensor for this setting. Make sure the track is level: the cart shouldn"t move much when placed on the track. We"ll consider the position right in front of the motion sensor to be position x=0, and all positions on the track to be in the positive direction. Predicting the graph based upon the description of motion. For each situation below: predict what the position vs time and velocity vs time graphs will look like.
