Pre and post 9/11 have one thing in common the alleged posed threat to the nation by mexican and latin american immigrants. Mexico and the fertility rates of these immigrants compared to black and white american natives. Huntington"s statements were even more shocking because of what was going on in the. 1) the us was waging war in iraq. 2) us deeply involved in war on terrorism in afghanistan. 3) searching for bin laden and al qaeda. And yes huntington still saw latinos particularly mexicans as americans most serious problem.
