Scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another: social thinking how we perceive ourselves and others, social influence society influences us, social relations influences on one another. Social psych is smaller scale studies the individual. Problem of common sense: invoked after we know the facts, hindsight bias (i knew it all along phenomenon) Missed of misinterpreted clues of 9/11: we react differently because we think differently. Beliefs about ourselves: personal attitudes and dispositions, internal forces. Inner attitudes about specific situations: personality dispositions. Different people may react differently while facing the same situation: our social intuitions are often powerful but often perilous, sociocultural, dual processing. Social influences shape our behavior: locality, education level, subscribed media, culture, ethnicity, evolutionary. Social behavior is biologically rooted: evolutionary psychology. Natural selection predisposes our actions and reactions: social learning. We learn by being rewarded or punished for our past behaviors.
