A dog is a creature that (a) is an animal, (b) has four legs, barks, and (d) wags its tail. Ludwig wittgenstein argued that the simple terms we all use every day actually don"t have definitions. For each clause of the definition, there can be an exception that doesn"t have the relevant characteristic. Ex. game hide and seek, olympic games. Dog three-legged dog, a dog with no bark. Wittgenstein proposed that members of a category have a family resemblance to one another. Def the idea that members of a category resemble one another.
