Traditional military thought: must have a large enough and ready force to fight two wars at the same time - today we couldn"t do that. When there are wars going on it is hard to recruit them. You have to pay enough money for them, and offer benefits. But regardless, you still may not be able to recruit enough people. Shared sacrifice: patriotism or people who don"t have better options. Isolationists oppose american involvement in overseas conflicts while realists take a pragmatic view of foreign policy, seeking to take whatever action benefits. Us interests want america to be first in power and influence but don"t seek to dominate world. Isolationists less concerned with america"s role on world stage, don"t seek to use war and diplomacy to make world a better place, just want to leave it alone . U. s. should say out of int"l affairs unless they are a direct threat to us.
