2 reasons to be willing to learn about photosynthesis: drives home the reason for many of our metabolic pathways, the whole earth"s life, including human life, relies on photosynthesis. #2 photosynthesis happens in the chloroplast, an organelle somewhat similar to the mitochondrion. Talks about some of the processes we do and some that happen in photosynthetic organisms. Good evidence to show that chloroplasts occur because of an early evolutionary endosymbiotic event. It has its own genome separate from the rest of the plant. Inner membrane is a diffusion barrier and then a non-continuous with the inner membrane but continuous with each other thylakoid membrane. It separates the inside of the inner membrane (stroma similar to matrix of mitochondrion) from the thylakoid membrane. The blotches have biological significance they aren"t a mistake in the image. #5 overall the light reactions of photosynthesis are reminiscent of the etc and op. Called light reactions because they can"t happen w/out photons of light.
