Human code-breaking: laugh track povine: when listening to a comedy show, you will be much more likely to interpret the show to be funnier when there is a laugh track. Powerful way of influencing your interpretation of how funny you find something. Has evolved over time, as shows were much more popular and considered more humorous with the presence of a laugh track. Important and contagious social cue : new idea: you put something in a tv program to secretly affect your interpretation of something. Classical conditioning pavlov"s dog: ecologically: great way to measure animal behavior when studying what aspects affect it. i. e. you need to hear the bell (means of detecting what can be heard), relationship between stimuli and responses. Consequences of each little behavior are a determining. Publication of an account of a patient with throat carcinoma; the patient was on opioids for pain and developed a tolerance.
