Document Summary

Identify and describe the locations and anatomical relationships between the pharynx, laryngeal cartilages, oesophagus and trachea in the neck region. Identify the margins of the anterior and posterior triangles in the neck. Label the structures of the neck including the musculature, vessels, nerves, salivary glands and endocrine glands in a transverse, sagittal and coronal plane. Pharynx, laryngeal cartilages, oesophagus and trachea in the neck region. Laryngeal cartilages/larynx: anterior part of neck, suspended from the hyoid bone from c3-c6, cartilaginous, continuous inferiorly with the trachea, posterior to the oesophagus, made of 9 cartilages, 3 paired, 3 unpaired, 3 paired: L + r lamina that join to form the laryngeal prominence. Superior thyroid notch is above the laryngeal prominence. Thyroid gland is located inferior to the cartilage. Top of the gland is level at the inferior border of the thyroid cartilage. Leaf shaped and posterior to the thyroid cartilage and hyoid bone. Attaches to posterior aspect of the superior thyroid notch.
