Good for getting people to pick up behavior. Eg. an m&m every time they take a shot at the football. Given when have certain number of behavior. You don"t know when you will be rewarded. Eg. no matter how hard we work we get paid hourly. Reward based on varying/unpredictable amount of time. Motivation get inside the mind and look at the behavior expressed. The satisfaction of the activity drives us to engage in it 1 type. Category of motivation that encompasses all other forms of motivation more than 1 type. Eg. ride to work in the morning to help relieve pain in knee. (not because enjoy it, not inherently satisfied with cycling itself, it"s the other contingencies related to riding that"s motivating it) Do it for money, do it for people. (e. g. , atkinson, 1964; porter & lawler, 1968; vroom, 1964)
