Hylas was a part of the argonaut myth and was the beloved of hercules. There are lots of different versions of this myth from greek and latin literature. Hylas is captured after herakles kills hylas" father over a dispute over a bull. The first full narratives of hylas appear in the hellenistic period. Hylas goes to fetch water for harakles and is pulled into the water by nymphs who are in love with him. Herakles is then distraught and searches for him.
