Ethics: a branch of philosophy that focuses on critical reflection of: Actions and events that consider right and wrong (not just about thinking what"s good, but actually doing it- especially in nursing) Ethics is the study of morals, and morality is the upbringing/valuing that comes from a person"s character, beliefs and values and learning from the past. Morality: refers to the private, personal standards of what is right or wrong in conduct. Nursing ethics has developed alongside what we know as bioethics. Bioethics began by asking how do we apply ethics to healthcare? : bioethics is essentially medical ethics, ethical behavior is not the display of one"s moral rectitude in times of crisis. It is the day-by-day expression of one"s commitment to other persons and the ways in which human beings relate to one another in their daily interactions. Moral identities are dialogical, relational and contextual. Doing what is right through choice and action.
