Dependence on others (result of highly specified division of labour) Law regulate interactions, maintain solidarity (amoung groups) Breakdown of solidarity, weakened bonds = climate conducive to antisocial behavior. Crime is functional (along with all social behavior) Identification of rule-breakers bond with other members. Belief no law violators - society will change law. Mechanical societies consensus on moral values/norms. Too much control, lack of creative thought i. e. galileo. Modern societies almost opposite too many differences, result of highly specialized division of labour. Laws focus on governing interactions between classes, not defining norms. Human beings- do not know when needs/desires are satisfied.
