Anthropology is the study of people: one of the major goals is to understand what it means to be a human. Bio cultural approach: a perspective that anthropologist take to try and understand what it means to be human. Looks at relationship to what we are physically and how it relates to our behavior: bio: biology, cultural: behaviors, **a way of looking at an entire organism so similar to holistic. Holistic: of or pertaining to an entire organism. Ethnocentric: a belief in the inherit superiority of ones own ethnic group or culture: you think your ways are better than others. Cultural relativism: viewing a culture within its own historical and environmental context. Fieldwork: a time of data collection that can help support or dispute what they are studying: examples: an anthropologist working with informants in a foreign culture, ex. Going and doing excavations at a site: working with museum, archives. Historic: written account with any artifacts found.
