Joint/articulation/arthrosis: a point of contact between two bones, between bone and cartilage, or between bone and teeth. Formed by solid mass of connective tissue; do not move. Solid mass is between two neighboring bones fibrous joint: dense irregular connective tissue cartilaginous joints: some form of cartilage holding bones together. Include a lubricated cavity; capsule that surrounds the bone lined by synovial cavity. Composed of dense connective tissue that bind bone together (acl, pcl) Serve in intrinsic (periodental ligament) and extrinsic (acl) Intrinsic binding structures within the joint itself, or as extrinsicsupporting bands that stabilize joints while limiting their range of motion (acl). Sprain: a ligament damage; forcibly wrench/tear/stretch the ligament. Strain: has to do with muscle; partial tearing of skeletal muscle.
