Exam 2: the articles of confederation, main problem --> no real effort to form a government with real authority. Problem became more visable when the settlement of western lands began. No mandate that the articles had to be replaced: constitution. Absolute democaracy trying to get the voice of all of the people, every single one, could have invirtuous voices. Entire point of constitution make a modern government, listening to the people but also telling them what to do: convetion of the constitution. Members: extremely wealthy, came from a good social pedigree, 43 year old white men. Went in trying to fix: to much liberty. One universal currency: made of paper, promote unity, wanted to establish a strong national government, who was there. Wanted states to have almost absolute power. Were not present in a strong force. June 1767: constitution was formed, 2nd longest standing constitution on the planet.
