The issue of abortion in america has become very divisive; it has become a seemingly irresolvable conflict between those who proclaim themselves to be pro-life and those who proclaim themselves to be pro-choice. This short essay will examine the nature of the debate in a limited manner. It will attempt to illustrate how the conflict between these two perspectives can be resolved in a fair and equitable manner that exhibits respect for both positions, but regards neither as the absolute truth. Social setting: the context in which this conflict will be analyzed involves the two species of political being, tribalism and individuated. Tribalism values the survival of its members and seeks, to protect the life of those members at all costs. This is a good, respectable, and necessary condition of tribal existence and it is reinforced by a tribal/religious culture that respects life in all of its manifestations.
