Document Summary

39: define tissue and explain where it falls in the hierarchy of structural organization. Tissue is a group of cells that function as a unit. In cell"s many things like the shape of a protein or the internal structure correlate with the function of a structure. Plasma membranes let certain certain materials in and out of the cell and proteins control which ions can pass in or out of the cell"s. All of these processes control even bigger processes such as breathing, eliminating wastes etc: how does the structure of each of the following tissues relate to its function? a. epithelial tissue: cuboidal, columnar, squamous: Cuboidal: found in many glands, on the free surface of the ovary, in the retina, and lining the kidney tubules. Columnar: line the surface if small and large intestines. Ciliated columnar epithelium is found in the uterus and oviducts, and in the bronchi of the lungs.
