Party polarization- distance between the parties in terms of voting in congress. Democrats and conservatives have grown apart dramatically (pulling apart faster than ever before) Today there is less overlap between the parties than ever before (this prevents any action from being taken in congress) There has been an increase that is dramatic with the wages of the top 20% Top 1% creates one half of all campaign contributions- because of this it is easy to fall under the assumption that money buys politics. Is polarization driving income inequality, or is it visa versa? (obvious relationship) Many conservatives are concerned about trump being elected into office. This election has been a more difficult one than any previous. Distrust in elections could occur given the statements that trump has presented (ie if he loses, it was rigged) Trump poses problems because his ideologies do not align with those of the party.
