Types of informative speeches: speeches about objects. Choose a specific purpose that focuses on one aspect of your object. Chronological, spatial, or topical order: speeches about processes. One kind explains a process so that listeners will understand it better. Another kind explains a process so listeners will be better able to perform the process themselves (you want the audience to be able to use the techniques as a result of your speech) Chronological or topical order: speeches about events. If the specific purpose is to recount the history of an event, you will use chronological order. If the specific purpose is the implications, benefits, future developments, etc. use topical order: speeches about concepts. Concepts include beliefs, theories, ideas, principles, etc. (more abstract that objects, processes, or events) Topical order and focus on the main features or aspects of the concept.
