Intimate partner violence/ spousal violence any violence occurring between intimate partners who are living together or separated. Most common type of stalker: someone who engages in stalking after an intimate relationship breakup. Financial abuse restricting access to personal funds, stealing from the victim, refusing to allow victim to work. Emotional abuse verbal attacks, degradation, threats about hurting family members or pets, isolation from family members, unwarranted accusations about infidelity: considered as damaging as physical abuse, common. Conflict tactics scale (cts)/ conflict tactics scale revised (cts2) used to measure domestic assault: has 5 scales: Females more likely to engage in minor physical aggression such as slapping, kicking, or hitting with object. Men more likely to beat up or choke my partners. Different groups: in treatment groups: men engage in higher rates of minor and severe physical abuse, in community and university: males and females commit equal amounts of violence.
