Social interaction: involves people communicating face to face or via, computer, acting and reacting in relation to other people. It is structured around norms, roles, and statuses. A person can occupy several positions or statuses at one. A woman can be a wife, a mother, and a flight attendant. Every status has a set of expected roles or behaviours. A role set is a cluster of roles attached to a single status. Wife (status) has the role to be a companion to her partner as well as, take responsibilities around the house. Role strain occurs when incompatible role demands are placed on a person in a single status. Flight attendant has to be suggestive and polite at the same time.
