Schools teach subjects and they teach what it means to be a man and a woman. Gender roles taught via curriculum and hidden curriculum. Curriculum taught by textbooks, etc and hidden curriculum is present where there are informal interactions with teachers and students. Both curriculums are backed up by mass media and the message they send is that men and women are unequal and different.
