Performative acts are forms of authoritative speech. The performative is where power acts as discourse. There is no i who stands behind discourse and executes its volition or will through discourse. The term queer emerges as an interpellation that raises the question of the status of force and opposition, of stability and variability, within performativity. A performative works to the extent that it draws on and covers over the constitutive conventions by which it is mobilized. In this sense, no term or statement can function performatively without the accumulating and dissimulating historicity of force. queering looks into: formation of homosexuality, deformative and misappropriative power that term currently enjoys. Gender is a choice, gender is a role, or that gender is a construction that one puts on: voluntarist account of gender, presumes a subject intact prior to gendering. Gender is the effect of regulatory regime. Gender differences divided and hierarchized under constraint.
