Frontal, parietal (2), occipital (flat bones) sphenoid, temporal (2) (irregular bones) ethmoid bone (pneumatized bone) Lacrimal (2), nasal (2), palatine (2), zygomatic (2), maxilla (2), mandible, inferior nasal concha (2), vomer. Occipital bone: articulate with the first vertebrae, atlas. Inner ear monitor position and movement of head; sense of balance. Also forms much of the anterior part of the cranial floor. Form much of the sides and roof of the cranial cavity; on left and right sides. Form the inferior lateral part of the cranial floor plus part of the lateral wall near the ear. Bone features: zygomatic process(articulate with zygomatic bone), mandibular fossa (articulate with mandible), mastoid process (serve as muscle attachment), carotid canal, styloid process, external and internal acoustic meatus.
