Online analyical processing (olap) or muli-dimensional analysis: slicing & dicing data stored in a dimensional formal, drilling down in the data to greater detail, and aggregaing the data. Data mining: the process of searching for valuable business informaion in a large database, data warehouse, or data mart. Two basic operaions of data mining: predicing trends & behaviors. Decision support systems (dsss): combine models & data to analyze semi structured problems & some unstructured problems that involved extensive user involvement. Sensiivity analysis: the study of the impact that changes in one or more parts of a decision making model have on other parts. What if analysis: atempts to predict the impact of a change in the assumpions (input data) on the proposed soluion. Goal seeking analysis: represents a backward soluion approach. Dashboards: evolved from execuive informaion systems, which were informaion systems designed speciically for the informaion needs of top execuives.
