Bipedality: both feet are only on the ground 25% of the time, skeleton adaptations and cognitions will helps this to happen. Skull: foramen magnum- hole in skull, bipeds have to have this on top of the head, humans have it located right on the bottom of skull, quadrapeds have f. m. located in the back of the head. Spinal curvature: humans and bipeds have a s curve in the spine, helps to balance and absorb shocks, quadrapeds have much shallower spine. Femur: bicondular angle- way the bone articulates with the pelvis; will make bottom of the femur directly under the center of the pelvis in a biped? (quadrapeds don"t have) Neck length: part in the head of femur, longer in quadrapeds, this helps the bicondular angle happen in bipeds. Feet: humans do not have opposable big toe (all primates do, longitudal arches are found in bipeds but not quadrapeds.
