ART 1001 Chapter : Analytical Memo 1
Document Summary
In south baton rouge, a area that is predominately inhabited by minorities consisting of higher crime and arrest rates than other surrounding areas of baton rouge. These neighborhoods are subject to police and public scrutiny. Some describe these areas as ghetto, dangerous, and somewhere people wouldn"t want to go. A lot of baton rouge citizens are afraid of these areas because of the association with crime. The idea of fear of crime can be applied to these areas. Most of the people arrested in these areas are young, black men who have no fear towards the possibility of crime. They grew up in or around crime and see it as another part of life. The older generations have become fearful of the new generation and their indifference to crime. It is no longer a life of crime for a ultimate goal, but a life of crime for fun.
