Document Summary

Chapter 9 part 2 of 3 (begin material for exam 3) During interphase a cell _grows__, __replicates its dna___, and often differentiates. Most eukaryotic cells spend the majority of their time in _interphase. Ex: human skin cells replicate about once a day, spend about 22 h in interphase. Interphase contains three phases - g1, s, g2. During g1 phase_the cell: almost always grows in size, often _differentiates_ Decides whether or not to divide based on signals. If signals cause the cell to divide then the cell enters s phases_ Once the cell enters s phase it is _committed to dividing_, there is no turning back! During _s phase_ the cell _replicates its dna_ After s phase the cell enters _g2 phase: more growth. There are two types of cell division: _mitotic__cell division, _meiotic_ cell division. Gives each daughter nucleus one copy of the parent cells replicated chromosomes: _cytokinesis_ cytoplasmic division. Places each of the nuclei into each daughter cell.
