The name bubonic plague comes from the buboes, that form in the lymph nodes in the groin and armpit regions. Reservoir: infected rodents population and infected rat fleas (zoonosis). In western united states the disease is endemic in wild rodents. Transmission: rat flea bite, or rat"s flea feces scratched into bite.
