All that determines institutions of society (government, law, family, religion, etc. ) Labor (community: use value = worth of that labor for yourself. Exchange value = worth of that labor for sale. Bureaucracies lead to alienation on a part of the workers: no longer care about organization; only care about paycheck. Protestant ethic = certain features of calvinism (work hard and have economic success) made successful capitalism. A theory of the lesser class described conspicuous consumption (consuming cultural artifacts to show a person"s status in society. People"s decision making is based more on cultural norms, social innovations, and institutional calculations.
